- The idea of a teen edition version of The Amazing Race came up by a
group of youngsters who were huge fans of the American-based reality TV
show.
- The Amazing Race Teen Edition (TARTE) Season 1 is said to be the most physically demanding Race ever devised.
-
The winning prize of TARTE Season 1 was RM50 worth of cash courtesy of
Matthew, one of the founders of TARTE. This was the only race having a
person to sponsor 100% of the prize. Unlike in the later seasons, the
source of the winning prize would be the entrance fee paid by all
contestants of the race. However, in this season of TARTE, the prize
weren't given to the winners because it was unofficial.
- In the first two legs of the Race, the order teams checked in at the Pit Stop were exactly the same.
-
In Leg 2, Ryan from the "Matthew & Ryan" team dropped off the
competition due to personal reasons. Therefore, Sheng Ling, who got
knocked-off in the leg before was a replacement to Ryan. Henceforth,
from Season 2 onwards, the rules have stated that teams may not switch
partner regardless of any circumstances.
- This season also
featured the least amount of legs/ rounds in TARTE history with only 3
legs while the average number of legs would be 5.
- Leg 3 was
supposed to be a non-elimination leg. However there was a sudden
downpour at the end of the leg which unable several teams to move on
the race. Marissa & Zheng Yi was the only team to complete the
Race. Natalie & Jo Ann reached the Pit Stop without completing the
leg whereas Wan Jun & Eng Khim went home without even checking in
the Pit Stop.
- Wan Jun & Eng Khim were initially crowned as
the winners of this season of TARTE based on their two
first-place-finishes record. This has sparked controversy among the
other racers as Marissa & Zheng Yi were supposed to be the ultimate
champ because they were the only team to complete the Race. In the end,
Wan Jun & Eng Khim's title as the winning team was stripped off and
was eventually replaced by team Marissa & Zheng Yi.
- There
was supposed to be an official finale of TARTE Season 1 sometime in
January 2007. However it was called off because Natalie from the
"Natalie & Jo Ann" team was unable to attend the finale.
